Meet Draco, the mascot behind Danubio’s three values, integrity, expertise, and continuity, and how each one shows up in the work we ship.

Draco the Dragon

Mascot, Danubio

3 min readApril 25, 2025

Hello there!

I'm Draco, proud mascot of Danubio, and an unexpected veteran of the IT world.

Fun fact: my IT career didn't exactly start smoothly. My early experiments with server rooms involved slightly more smoke than they should have. Live and learn, right?

I finally found my real purpose: helping tell the story of Danubio. A story built around people, craft, and a small set of values we actually live by.

When the team created me, they wanted more than just a logo or a name. They wanted a symbol of what makes Danubio different. A reminder that behind every solution, every innovation, and every project, there’s a team of real people who care deeply about what they do.

Our values aren't posters on a wall or checkboxes in a handbook. They're how we work, innovate and support our clients and each other, every day.

Through me, you'll see those values in action: a commitment to doing things the right way, a culture of open communication, a love for hard problems, and a belief that kindness is just as powerful as knowledge.

And lucky for me, they gave me wings and a voice to show them off.

The values we live by

We keep three. We narrowed our values down on purpose. Past a handful, they stop meaning much. These three are the ones we'd defend in a hard conversation with a client, a teammate, or ourselves.

Draco illustrating Integrity

Integrity

Trust is earned line by line.

We communicate directly, give honest assessments, and raise problems early. Clear expectations, accountability, and initiative matter more than telling people what they want to hear.

Doing the right thing is at the heart of who we are, even when no one's watching, and even when a certain dragon could technically hide the evidence.

Draco illustrating Expertise

Expertise

Senior by default, sharp by habit.

Building great things takes more than passion. It takes mastery. Our team brings deep technical judgment to every project, balancing precision with creativity to craft solutions that last.

From clean, elegant code to thoughtful design, we build things we're proud to put our name on. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing brilliantly.

We sharpen expectations the way a dragon hones its claws.

Draco illustrating Continuity

Continuity

The team that knows the code stays with the code.

Software outlives org charts. Acquisitions happen, products get rewritten, platforms shift underneath you. Through all of it, the team that built your system stays close to it, so the reasoning behind every decision never walks out the door.

People can move on, and sometimes they do. What stays is the institutional memory of why a system is built the way it is: the standards, the trade-offs, the hard-won context. Continuity lives in the team and its discipline, far more than in any single name on the roster.

The fire is the loud part. The watching, the listening, the staying close. That’s the dragon’s real job, and it’s why we’re still standing guard long after the launch.

Thank you for meeting me.

Whether you're here as a potential partner, future teammate, or just someone curious about the slightly unusual dragon in the room: thank you.

I'm proud to represent Danubio's spirit: professional, passionate, and just playful enough to make building the future feel a little more fun.

Meeting me means meeting the spirit of everyone at Danubio. Partner with us and you get a whole crew of Dracos.

Our values have a face (and wings). So does your next project, if you're ready to take flight with us.

Feel free to reach out,

Draco

P.S. I accept thank-you notes, high-fives, and the occasional cookie as payment.
